Keep safe when you're out drinking - transport information

Public Transport

  • never use isolated bus stops - keep to busy streets where there are people about
  • sit near the driver on a bus or in a busy carriage on the Metro
  • if you feel threatened or anxious, get off at the next stop where it is busy and full of people

Metro

Metro train shown at a station

There are 60 Metro stations serving Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside.

Stations are located at the heart of both Newcastle and Sunderland city centres, railway stations and at the airport - so getting around couldn’t be easier.

Metro stations are also easy to find – look out for the cubes which are situated next to all stations.

Go to www.nexus.org for train timetable information.
