Safe Newcastle is a statutory partnership that will make Newcastle a safer place for those who live, work and visit the city.

Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership

The 1998 Crime and Disorder Act places a duty on public agencies, including local authorities, to work together to prevent and reduce crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour. In every area throughout the country these public agencies have formed Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships - in Newcastle this is called Safe Newcastle.

The work of Safe Newcastle is led by:

• Newcastle City Council
• Newcastle Primary Care Trust
• Northumbria Police
• Northumbria Police Authority
• Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service
